Knocky Chat Terms of Use

1. Your Agreement with Us

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern the Knocky Chat app and related services offered by Ethereal Connect Limited ("Knocky Chat," "we," "us," or "our"). Together, these are the "Services."

By selecting an acceptance control that clearly refers to these Terms, you enter into this agreement. Do not use the Services if you do not agree. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Acceptance of these Terms is not consent to every possible use of that information.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into this agreement where you live. The Services are not available to anyone under 18, including with a parent's or guardian's permission.

Provide truthful information when age eligibility is requested. Do not help an ineligible person gain access or bypass an age restriction. We may restrict access when eligibility cannot reasonably be established or when use is prohibited by law. Any information collected for an eligibility check is handled under the Privacy Policy and any additional notice required for that check.

3. Fictional Stories and AI Characters

Knocky Chat is a text-based entertainment service. Doors offers interactive stories, and House offers individual conversations with AI characters. Your messages and choices can affect generated dialogue, chapter development, and fictional relationships. The current version does not offer AI image or video generation, voice generation, text-to-speech, or speech-to-text.

You are interacting with artificial intelligence, not a human. Characters' dialogue, apparent emotions, memories, and relationship responses are simulated. They are not communications from another user, professional judgments, or real-world promises by a person or by Knocky Chat.

Chapter goals, relationship scores, rewards, and story states are game mechanics. They do not measure your real-world value, establish a real relationship, or have cash value. We do not guarantee a specific character reaction, ending, completion time, or permanent availability of a story.

AI output can be mistaken, repetitive, inconsistent, or unexpected. A character can misremember something or invent an event. Evaluate output appropriately and do not rely on it for important real-world decisions.

The Services are not healthcare, therapy, professional legal or financial advice, or an emergency service. Do not use them for diagnosis, treatment, or an emergency response. In the United States, call 911 for an immediate emergency. For suicide or mental-health crisis support, call or text 988. Elsewhere, use an appropriate local emergency or crisis service.

Support and content-reporting channels are not guaranteed real-time emergency assistance. These statements do not reduce any safety obligation imposed on us by applicable law.

4. Accounts, Guest Access, and Personas

You may use guest access and the Google or email sign-in methods offered in the app. Use the available linking process to associate a guest experience with an account. We do not guarantee recovery of guest progress if you lose the identifier or device access needed to locate it.

Information needed for authentication, eligibility, and support must be accurate. Your storytelling persona may be fictional; it does not have to describe your real identity. Do not use an account or persona to deceptively impersonate another person or violate their rights.

Take reasonable steps to protect your device and sign-in access. Notify us when you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for your own conduct, but these Terms do not make you responsible for security failures caused by us.

Do not sell or transfer an account, access another person's account without permission, or create accounts to evade a legitimate restriction. Signing out or unlinking a sign-in method is not account deletion.

5. Your Content and AI Output

"Your Content" means the text, messages, personas, feedback, and other original material you submit. You retain any rights you hold in Your Content and must have the rights or permission needed to submit it.

You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, process, summarize, translate, and display Your Content, and to allow our service providers to do so, only as needed to provide the Services, maintain safety and security, respond to your requests, and meet legal duties. Content you deliberately post in a public feedback feature may be displayed to that feature's audience.

This license does not allow us to publish your private chats as advertisements, sell them, or train models contrary to the Privacy Policy. It ends when the relevant content is deleted from our systems, except for uses necessary for lawful retention and related obligations.

AI output may resemble output shown to others. We do not guarantee that it is original, exclusive, copyrightable, or free of third-party rights. You may use output provided to you for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to applicable law, these Terms, and underlying third-party rights. This does not transfer ownership of protected characters, artwork, or software appearing in an output.

A lawful user request does not make you responsible for every unexpected response produced by the AI. You remain responsible for how you knowingly use or distribute content.

6. Acceptable Use

Do not use the Services to create, request, promote, or distribute:

• Sexual content involving minors, including fictional or age-ambiguous minors; child exploitation or grooming; non-consensual intimate content; pornography or sexually explicit content intended for sexual gratification; or content promoting sexual violence.
• Credible threats, targeted harassment, fraud, unlawful discrimination, or content facilitating real-world violence, terrorism, suicide, self-harm, or other serious wrongdoing.
• Material that violates another person's privacy, intellectual-property, or other rights; deceptive impersonation; stolen credentials; or another person's private information without authorization.
• Malware, phishing, spam, or unauthorized commercial solicitations.

Do not interfere with service security or reliability, bypass access or safety restrictions, scrape content or access the service through unauthorized automation, or exploit vulnerabilities without authorization. Restrictions on reverse engineering apply only to the extent permitted by law.

These rules do not prohibit discussing distress, describing an experience of harm, seeking support, making an honest complaint, or engaging in otherwise permitted fictional conflict. We may redirect or limit a conversation for safety or compliance without treating a request for help as misconduct.

7. Reporting, Feedback, and Moderation

You can report problematic AI content through the in-app reporting or Me → Share feedback feature. Include enough information to identify the content and explain the concern. You may also contact support@knocky.ai. An email or external community is not your only reporting route.

We may use automated tools and authorized human review, as described in the Privacy Policy, to assess reports and enforce these Terms. We may refuse generation, restrict or remove content, limit a feature, or suspend an account where reasonably necessary. We prioritize reports according to risk and applicable obligations; we do not guarantee that every unsafe output will be detected.

When appropriate and legally permitted, we explain an enforcement decision and provide an opportunity to request review. Contact support@knocky.ai to ask for review. We may act immediately when needed to address urgent harm, a legal requirement, or a security incident.

Private feedback and public community-board submissions have different visibility. Do not include private information in a public submission. Feedback and votes do not guarantee that a suggested feature will be built. Nothing in these Terms prevents truthful reviews, good-faith complaints, or lawful reports to authorities.

8. Free Launch Version and Service Limits

The launch version is free to download and use. It does not offer subscriptions, in-app purchases, or purchasable virtual currency. Your internet or mobile provider may charge for connectivity.

Free access does not guarantee unlimited storage, uninterrupted availability, or unlimited AI requests. We may apply reasonable technical or safety limits and explain material limits where relevant to your use.

If we introduce paid features later, we will disclose their prices and purchase terms before you choose to buy. Agreeing to these Terms does not authorize a later charge, automatic subscription, or enrollment in a paid trial.

9. Our Intellectual Property and Third-Party Services

The app's software, design, branding, and the stories, character materials, and artwork provided by us belong to us or our licensors to the extent protected by law. Subject to these Terms, you have a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services for personal, non-commercial entertainment.

You may not resell the Services or imply that we endorse your separate product. Nothing here limits rights you have under law, including permitted quotation, criticism, or other protected uses.

If you believe content infringes your rights, send support@knocky.ai a description of the protected work or right, the disputed material's location, your contact information, and the basis of your authority to complain. We may request further information needed to assess the issue. This process does not represent that we have registered a statutory notice agent.

Google Play, Google sign-in, and external communities may have separate terms for your use of their services. Your contract for Knocky Chat is with the operator named in Section 1, not Google. We remain responsible for our own service and data-handling obligations.

10. Ending Use and Changes to the Service

You may stop using the Services at any time. To request account and associated-data deletion, select Delete account in the account controls under Me - My account, or submit a deletion request through the web form at https://api.knocky.ai/api/page/delete-acount, or contact support@knocky.ai. The web form asks for the account email or user ID and a contact email; we confirm and process the request after verification. The Privacy Policy explains verification, timing, backups, and lawful exceptions.

We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach of these Terms, a serious safety or security concern, a legal requirement, or discontinuation of the Services. We act proportionately and provide notice where reasonably practicable, unless urgent action is necessary or notice is legally restricted.

We may update, replace, or discontinue stories, characters, features, or game mechanics. Where a change materially affects ongoing use, we provide reasonable notice when practicable and honor non-waivable rights. We do not guarantee indefinite preservation of a particular story, character, or saved state.

Ending access does not eliminate your privacy rights or our legal obligations. Provisions that need to continue after termination, such as ownership, lawful retention, and dispute provisions, continue only to the extent appropriate and lawful.

11. Disclaimers and Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that generated content is accurate or that the Services will operate without interruption or error.

Subject to the exclusions below and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the Services. Our aggregate liability for claims arising from the Services will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid us for the Services during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations do not exclude or limit liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or remedy that applicable law does not permit us to exclude or limit. They do not waive mandatory privacy, consumer-protection, or AI-safety rights or obligations. Where a limitation is prohibited or unenforceable, it does not apply to that extent.

12. Disputes and Applicable Law

Contact support@knocky.ai about a dispute so that we can try to resolve it. Informal contact is encouraged, not a mandatory waiting period or a condition of exercising your rights.

These Terms do not select the law of a particular jurisdiction. A court with jurisdiction will determine the applicable law under the choice-of-law rules it is required to apply. You retain the benefit of mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.

These Terms do not require binding arbitration, waive participation in a class action, or prevent you from bringing a permitted claim in court, seeking urgent relief, or contacting a regulator.

13. Changes and General Terms

We may update these Terms prospectively and revise the date above. We provide reasonable notice of material changes and obtain renewed acceptance where required. Changes do not retroactively remove accrued rights or authorize new charges.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply where possible. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of that right. Any transfer of our business or this agreement remains subject to applicable law and does not remove your non-waivable rights.
